SMS Management & Technology was first established in Melbourne in 1986 as Strategic Management Sciences and has grown from humble beginnings to the high profile publicly listed company it is today. SMS achieved consistent growth through the 1980s and 1990s and in May 2000, SMS merged with Sausage Software. Following the dot com crash in 2000 SMS experienced negative growth until the appointment of Tom Stianos as CEO in 2002. Tom immediately embarked on the daunting task of restructuring and revitalising the flagging fortunes of the Company. Between 2002 and 2004 the Company divested non-core businesses acquired through Sausage Software and restored performance. This allowed renewed investment in new capabilities which has proved to be highly successful in terms of share price, profit, employee numbers and a wider range of services and clients.
In 2005 SMS developed its five year corporate strategy, to provide the business with focus and a clear roadmap to ensure our ongoing success. In 2007, SMS is achieving strong growth from its traditional consulting and IT contract labour services, augmented by the establishment of ancillary business units designed to extend our breadth of services.
