    Chairman of the Board

    Laurie Cox became Chairman of SMS in May 2001. He is a Non-Executive Director of OneSteel Limited.

    He has extensive experience in Australian and international financial markets. He was Chairman of the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute; he was Executive Chairman of the Potter Warburg Group of Companies in Australia from 1989-1995 and was a Director of SG Warburg Securities of London.

    He was a Director of the Australian Stock Exchange from its inception in 1987 and Chairman from 1989-1994 and was awarded the Order of Australia for services to the ASX and the securities industry. Laurie was also a Director and acting Chairman of Macquarie Group Foundation Limited until 2009.

    Laurie is a graduate of Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Commerce, a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
