Rhys joined SMS in August 2010 on our 457 Visa programme. Rhys is a self motivated IT professional with 7 years experience in the technology arena. Having commenced his career in the UK in software development, Rhys has diversified through a number of roles across the software development life cycle and is now focused on the Project Management of software solutions.

Rhys’ skills and experience include:

• Project managing the inception of a programme of work consisting of 10+ software development initiatives and making recommendations around delivery of the programme and how to implement software development best practices.
• Working with the client to transition them from an ad-hoc waterfall software development approach to a more agile approach to developing software. This included coaching and mentoring in agile practices.
• Leading a small team to the successful delivery of the highest priority development initiatives in a roadmap of work using agile methodologies.

Background

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science (Business Information Systems) Rhys commenced work with a software development company in the UK, working with some of the largest local authorities in London. Prior to becoming a Project Manager, Rhys had worked in both Software Support, Software Developer, Support Manager and Test Lead roles. Rhys’ business experience spans both public and private sector in government, education and legal industries.
