SMS to replace ACT Education Directorate’s school administration system with an integrated enterprise platform.

SMS Management & Technology (SMS) has partnered with the ACT Education Directorate to replace the Territory’s existing school administration system with a centralised system for all 87 government schools within the Territory.

The contract is valued at approximately $8.7 million over a 6-year term and includes SMS advisory, solutions and managed services as well as the provision of specialised third party software. The contract allows for a further 4-year extension beyond the initial 6-year term.

The ACT Education Directorate currently has 87 standalone instances of a server-based administration system serving 45,000 students. SMS has been engaged to deliver a solution designed to consolidate a variety of disparate systems, with a single centralised, web-enabled enterprise solution for students, staff and parents. The engagement leverages SMS’s national focus and capability in the Education sector and includes the implementation of best-of-breed software solutions for school administration, timetabling and financial management, together with the provision of training, change and project management, and on-going support services.

SMS Chief Executive Officer Rick Rostolis said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the ACT Education Directorate by providing a full end-to-end service in relation to this initiative.  Our experience in both the government and education sectors, together with the support of our software partners, will allow us to deliver a solution that meets the needs of teachers, parents and staff, while aligning with the innovation agenda of the ACT Education Directorate. This engagement reinforces SMS's strategy of leveraging its advisory capability to drive downstream solutions and managed services offerings.”
